3 Ways That Breathing Helps Your Pelvic Floor

I used to think that “take a deep breath” was dumb advice.

What could my breathing actually affect in a real way?

Turns out the answer is - a bunch of things.
...
Ex 1: Every single time you breathe, your pelvic floor muscles should relax, lengthen and descend. It makes a little more space for your organs that are moving with your breath.

Ex 2: Your deepest layer of abs and your pelvic floor work together - when one contracts, so does the other. I use cues for both abs and the pelvic floor to try to see what is easiest for people.

Ex 3: Your breathing pattern can both impact and be impacted by your sympathetic nervous system, meaning that you can use your breath to decrease feelings of nervousness or anxiety.

So, take a deep breath and schedule an evaluation to look at how your breathing is impacting your pelvic floor.
